Dental Technology at Dublin Smiles

The field of dentistry is ever evolving, and treatment techniques and tools are constantly in development. At Dublin Smiles, we're proud to offer our patients modern, proven treatments that allow them to enjoy the comfort, convenience, and efficiency that today's dentistry provides.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays are much more comfortable than traditional film X-rays. There's no sharp piece of film to bite down on, and the results are instant! As soon as they're taken, we can view your X-ray images right on our computer monitor. Digital X-rays are also safer because they give off much less radiation than traditional X-rays.

Digital panoramic X-rays, which are typically taken every few years, are a particularly revealing diagnostic tool since they provide a comprehensive view of your teeth and jaw structure as opposed to angle-specific X-rays. If it's been a while since your last dental X-rays, we'll likely take a panoramic X-ray.

X-rays allow us to see problems with teeth and the surrounding tissues that simply cannot be seen by the naked eye. X-rays can reveal:

  • Small sections of decay between teeth or below existing dental work
  • Deep cavities
  • Infections in the jaw bones
  • Deep gum disease
  • Abscesses or cysts
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Some tumors

Digital Intraoral Camera

Our intraoral camera is an exciting and useful diagnostic and patient education tool we think you will appreciate. The small intraoral camera is mounted to a wand, which is inserted into your mouth. The digital camera on the wand allows us to give you a real-time “tour” of your mouth on one of our computer screens. This enables you to see what we see, and helps us guide you through your diagnosis and treatment options. The intraoral camera lets us diagnose issues we might not otherwise have been able to see.

Lumineers® System Veneers

Lumineers System Veneers

Like traditional veneers, Lumineers® are a great option for covering broken, cracked, or badly chipped front teeth. With Lumineers though, much less tooth shaping preparation is necessary, so more of your natural tooth structure is preserved, and there's usually no need for shots! Lumineers are fast, too, commonly taking only a few visits. Unlike traditional veneers, Lumineers are reversible so if you are ready for a smile makeover but perhaps not one quite as permanent as traditional veneers, then Lumineers could be perfect for your situation.
